In this practice, from The Advanced Practice Group 2021, John leads couples in a polarity practice beginning with breath work and then an embodied practice focused on offering expressions of their primal nature through the ancient archetypes of Goddess and God forms. Please note that this content is from our most advanced practice group program. We have some recommendations on where to begin below first if you are a beginner in this work.
To begin:
If you are new to this work, John will refer to DMT and Holotropic breathing as well as God and Goddess forms. We recommend checking out the following compilations and practices first to begin creating a foundation for this advanced partner practice.
Compilation/Teachings for Both the Masculine and Feminine: A Fierce Demand, A Fully Expressed Invitation
For the Masculine (Practice): Wild Man, Zen Warrior, Receptive Lover, Fierce Devotion
For the Feminine (Practice) : Pleasure, Energy, Response, Surrender, Devotion
For Partners (Practice): Lover and Warrior
For this practice:
We suggest being seated on the floor on a zafu or cushion for the first part of the practice. You can be seated with legs crossed or zazen style if that is more comfortable. John will begin this practice with a style of breathwork, called DMT breathing and will then go into Holotropic style breathing to follow. After, John will guide you into a meditation that will lead into an embodied practice. The first part of the practice will be solo. John will then prompt when to open your eyes and face your partner. When you are facing your partner, you will look into their left eye. You can be seated on the floor or in a chair for this portion of the practice if that feels good. John will prompt you at some point to come to your feet so you may want space to move around.
