Ego Eradicator and Awareness Practice
14m
As a man, you may feel a call to “be more present.” Perhaps you have received this feedback from your romantic partner or at work, or the calling may come from deep within you. You want to practice presence, but either you are not sure where to begin, or you’ve tried meditation or other practices for cultivating presence and nothing has ever worked.
Through this awareness practice combined with the Ego Eradicator Kundalini breath practice, John calls you to discipline yourself to maintain an awareness of your awareness. The reason why most men don’t stick with presence practices is that they’re unable to become more aware than their habits of awareness, so their habits win every time they try.
If you want to discipline yourself to move through your habits of awareness into a sustainable state of presence, this 15-minute practice will help.
Come to a strong seated position with your eyes open and feet firmly rooted to the ground. Start by deepening your awareness of how much integrity and strength you have in your body. Become aware of everything you are aware of - the sensations of your body, John's voice, the room you're in, etc. Relax your desire to fidget. Notice if that deepens the moment for you.
Without losing any of this awareness, lift your arms in the Ego Eradicator practice position - arms lifted at 60 degrees parallel to your ears, fingers to the pads of your hands, thumbs out - and begin strongly exhaling through the nose with the navel pulling toward the spine and allow the inhale to flow in naturally through the nose.
Be aware of the sensations of your body as you do this breath practice and then become aware of your awareness - feel the space where it all happens. Discipline yourself to maintain an awareness of your awareness of the entire space. Then after completing the breath practice, become aware of what is different in your body. Feel how your awareness is connected to others' awareness, like drops in a huge ocean of consciousness.
Note: When John gives the instruction to feel into the 'other men on the call,' you can do this by feeling into others in your house, or feeling into your loved ones from wherever you are, even if they are not physically near you.
