Expand your Feeling Body, Become as Wide as the Desert
16m
If you’ve ever had someone give you *exactly* what you most needed in a moment, without you asking for it, then you know what a gift this experience can be. If you weren’t even aware of what you needed, it can seem like magic and leave you feeling profoundly seen. It’s the glass of water when you didn’t realize you were thirsty. It’s, “You look beautiful today,” when you are quietly drowning in self-doubt. It’s the hand on your back when you are feeling all alone in your grief.
Being able to feel into a friend, partner, or loved-one–to get a sense of what they might be wanting or needing in a moment–is a skill that can be cultivated. With all the distractions of our digital world, we have become less embodied in general and far less connected to our feeling bodies. But developing the ability to deeply attune to those we care about is possible. Like any skill, it takes time and dedication.
In this 16-minute practice from the 2022 Embodied Men’s Leadership Training, John will guide you into your feeling body and help you to cultivate the skill of attunement. You’ll begin with a brief mantra to fill your body and the space around you with sound, followed by a gentle breath practice that will open and energize your central channel. From there you’ll begin to expand your awareness and your feeling body; ultimately becoming one with the nature that is all around you.
Attunement is an incredible gift and skill to be able to offer a current or future partner. If you are out of touch with your feeling body or if you want to expand your existing skills, this practice will bring you into deep contact with yourself, expand your capacity for sensing others, and even further–being able to feel into all the subtle nuances of life.
