Fire, Sound Current, and the Infinite Space Within
1h 6m
As a masculine practitioner (regardless of gender), your consciousness is one of the most important capacities you can cultivate. Resting as the infinite while sitting quietly on your meditation cushion is the first step, but what happens when life gets intense? Instead of letting your body and breath collapse, can you remain full? When your thoughts begin to race, can you relax into the ever present witness?
“The practice is what is happening IN you while you are in discomfort.” – John Wineland
This 66 minute practice is designed to challenge, inspire you, and expand your capacity for breath, for being with sensation, and resting as consciousness–no matter what is happening around you.
Lead trainer Travis Streb begins with a Kundalini Kriya designed to draw energy into the body and stoke your inner fire. John continues the practice with some gentle chanting (sound currents) to clear stuck energy from the body and bless the space around you. From this place of stillness, you’ll drop deeply into consciousness before the fire intensifies again.
If you are looking for a challenge or you’d like to more artfully move through the inevitable storms of life, this practice offers specific tools and cues to help you build resilience while navigating challenge and discomfort.
Who this practice is for:
This practice can be done by practitioners at all levels. It is meant to be challenging, but not painful. John was carefully monitoring the men during this event. While listening to the recording, please honor your body, your physical limits, and your current tolerance for discomfort. Good practice is slowing down or stopping as needed.
Practice setup:
You’ll begin in a seated position, ideally on a meditation cushion. Midday through the practice, John will invite you to stand up and move into a chair pose (to see the image below). You’ll end the practice seated back on your meditation cushion.
