Pressing Consciousness Out into Earth, Heart and Sky
11m
You might be a man who enjoys sex, but you know there is much more that you could experience. You want to bring more depth, range, and capacity to your lovemaking and lead your lover into divine surrender, but you don’t know how to get there.
In this practice John led for virtual participants of the June 2020 Art of Spiritual Intimacy Online Weekend Immersion with Assistants Ted Riter and Luke Entrup, you will practice transmitting consciousness through three areas of your body: your entire navel and genital area rooted into the earth; your wide, open heart; and your mind connected to the sky. You will practice pressing your heart and your entire navel and genital area out, so you can bring this transmission to your partner in a moment of deep lovemaking.
If you want to penetrate your partner with consciousness the next time you make love, you’ll learn how in this 11-minute practice.
Start shaking out your legs, one at a time. Take your right hand and pound up your left arm with a loose fist. Then do the same to your other arm. Pound down the center of your body from your upper chest and down to your belly. Then continue down the insides and up the outsides of your legs. Pound your kidneys, up the sides of your ribs, and your chest. Then gently slap your face.
Stand with your legs in a wide stance, with your feet wider than hip width apart. Point your toes forward, like you are standing on train tracks.
Start in a low Earth Pose, feeling as if your hands are holding a ball of energy emanating from your navel to your genitals. Breathe into that space.
Then squat down, scoop up the energy from the earth, and stand again, gathering the ball in front of you. Notice if there is more energy in the ball now. Do this squat once more. Breathe down into a full, round belly, and feel your breath merge with the energy of the ball. Energize your genitals with this energy. It is as if you are holding a "phallus of consciousness," as David Deida would describe it.
Then slowly lift your hands up to your heart. Imagine that your heart is as big as the ball in front of you, and so wide, that it fills your chest and reaches out to fill your palms. Inhale the energy from the earth up into your body, which will help you to press more of your consciousness, depth and energy into this big, wide heart.
Then lift your hands up with your palms facing forward, and your arms bent like goal posts on either side of your head. Connect to the fresh, clean, bright sky with the top of your heart, your throat and your third eye.
Feel the texture of all three of these energies you've explored - your genitals connected to the earth, your heart wide and open, and your fresh, clean mind.
Then feel how your body can be a transmission of these energies. Press them out and fill the room you're in - your big, wide heart; your clean, fresh mind; and your five foot phallus of consciousness.
In your last three breaths, make an intention to give more - whatever that means to you. Then slowly lift your arms up, grab the energy from the sky, and press it down through the center of your body.
Finish the practice by standing tall with your arms by your side, your chest and solar plexus lifted, your shoulders down and back, and your chin tucked. See if you can connect one more time to those energies: earth, wide heart, and sky. This body, transmitted into your environment, is a gift.
