Whether it’s uncertainty around your job, your purpose, making a big decision like whether or not to deepen or end a relationship, or expanding beyond your comfort zone in some other way–we all experience fear. There is no escaping it. So how do you respond when fear arises? Do you distract yourself? Do you become paralyzed in fearful thought loops? Or are you able to move fear through your body?
In this 27 minute practice from the 2022 Embodied Men’s Leadership Training, John will guide you out of looping thoughts, into your body, and then invite you to speak your fears out loud as a way to surrender them to something larger than yourself. The practice ends by dropping you into a state of embodied gratitude.
If you are experiencing fear, anxiety, uncertainty, or overwhelm, this practice will help you to stop disempowering thought loops, open your body, surrender your fears, and leave you lighter, more grounded, and more capable of facing the challenges ahead.
Who this practice is for:
This practice is not gender specific and can be done by practitioners at all levels.
Practice setup:
You’ll begin in a horse stance (see the example image below) with your right palm facing down at about waist level and your left palm facing to your right at about heart level. Later in the practice, John will ask you to come into a kneeling posture. Have a cushion or blanket nearby to kneel on for added comfort.
