The world is in constant motion and it can be difficult not to get swept up in the movement of life. One of the foundational principles of Masculine Practice is the ability to remain steadfast and find stillness in your body as the world moves around you. This does not mean that you are stone or unfeeling, but that you allow the energy and the movement to be within, under your skin, in your heart and in your bones.
In this 10-minute practice for The Embodied Men’s Leadership Training (Panamint, 2025) John guides the participants into stillness as the pulse of music weaves its way through and around them, feeling their experience from the inside out while containing the energy within themselves.
This practice is one of containment, and practicing in this way, with a song that makes you want to dance, primes your body for grounded stillness and containment when life is moving and your urge is to fall into the chaos, when what the world wants from you is your grounded stillness.
