Consciousness, What Should I Do Now?
For The Feminine : Practices

It can be terrifying for most women to trust and surrender their body and deep heart to the Masculine. This makes sense as there is a long history of pain and abuse of the Feminine gifts, so these must be treasured, cherished, and preserved for a Masculine partner who is truly trustable. But perhaps you want to practice trust and surrender as a gift of devotion to your partner, a future partner, or yourself. You might want to create a safe container to explore these qualities, but you’re not sure how.
In this feminine practice, originally led by Nicholette Routhier for the 2020 Embodied Women's Relationship Immersion, you will connect with Consciousness itself, and follow, as your body is commanded open into Divine surrender. You will explore trusting the Divine Masculine as a gift of devotion and then bask in the energy that you generate by opening with love.
If you want to create a safe container to practice trust and surrender, begin with this 8-minute practice.
Prior to your practice, prepare a comfortable and private practice space, such as a mat, rug or sheepskin, that will allow you to move your body freely with your eyes closed. Set aside an uninterrupted period of time in which you can stay in practice the entire time.
The original practice used these two songs as background tracks:
"Open Me Slowly" by Rena Jones
"Such Great Heights" by Aviino & Middle School
Feel free to play these songs, a 9-minute playlist of your choice, or choose to practice in silence. You will not be formerly guided to start the music, so if you choose to use a playlist, press "Play" on your music just prior to starting the practice.
Then lie down on the floor.
Begin a breath practice in which you take a deep inhale, hold at the top of the inhale for as long as feels natural, and then exhale and release. As you hold your breath at the top of the inhale, connect with Consciousness, in the exact way that it is revealing itself to you today. Notice if you feel any sensations as you begin to connect with Consciousness.
Continue breathing in this way: Inhale. Hold and connect with Consciousness. Exhale and release.
After a few cycles of this breath, on the hold, as you connect with Consciousness, ask, "Consciousness, what should I do now?" or "What should I do next?" And, on the exhale, allow Consciousness to command your body open.
You might hear a response, like, "Open your arms" or "Show me your throat." You might see an image. Or you might simply feel an impulse.
Follow the impulse. Trust the impulse. However it comes.
Inhale. "Consciousness, what should I do now?" Exhale. Follow Consciousness's command. And trust.
Feel the sensuality of the surrender to Consciousness's impulse—perhaps very gently guiding your body open, or perhaps, fiercely, powerfully, commanding you. Perhaps, on the exhale, there is a sharp impulse, like a slap, or a stomp, or a growl. Maybe there is something very subtle, like a turn of your neck, or a caress of your thigh.
What energy can you bring to Consciousness in response to their command? Maybe you bring a little bit of a tease, coyness, or playfulness. Perhaps you become a bit submissive. Or challenging.
No matter what comes, trust and follow.
Utter surrender. Utter devotion. Utter release. Open your body on the altar of love as a gift to the Divine.
After several minutes, begin to relax the practice and find a place to rest, seated or lying down. Feel the earth beneath you. Feel the walls around you. Feel gravity pressing on your skin. Allow all of the energy you generated in this practice to integrate and run through you, like cooling water.
Receiving your own energy. Perhaps even getting off on your own energy. Becoming nourished by your own energy. Gifted by your own energy.
Breathe and receive. Breathe and receive.
Then very slowly and gently, open your eyes, return to your space, and complete your practice.
