Archetypes are energetic blueprints — embodied expressions of deeper truths that live within us all. When we step into an archetype with intention, we awaken dormant aspects of ourselves and offer our partner something raw, sacred, and unexpected.
In this 37-minute couples practice from The Art of Sacred Intimacy (Austin, 2025), John guides you and your partner through a shared ritual of archetypal embodiment. You will take turns expressing a specific energetic archetype — the Warrior, Sorceress, Priest, Maiden — while your partner witnesses with full presence. Together, you’ll explore how to bring unfamiliar or even uncomfortable energies into the space as a gift: fierce, devotional, dark, radiant — all with an open heart.
This practice helps expand your range of expression, enliven your dynamic, and deepen your connection. It invites you to stretch beyond habit and into bold, artful truth — not just for your partner, but as an offering to love itself.
Practice setup: Stand facing your partner. You’ll each take turns expressing and witnessing. Choose one archetype to begin, and let it move through your breath, body, and gaze.

Desire is not just a longing — it is a transmission. A radiance. A force that wants to be felt, expressed, and received. But for many of us, claiming what we truly want feels risky. Polarity is often misunderstood as something rigid — two people locked into opposing roles, one holding structure, the other surrendering. But real-life intimacy is rarely that fixed. True polarity lives on a continuum.
