For the masculine practitioners: If you’ve ever wondered how to circulate sexual energy, how to move your breath, consciousness, and ripples of energy up your partner’s spine to support them in opening to more love, or, if you have ever wondered how to practice sexual yoga when you don’t have a partner, this 27-minute guided practice is for you.
In this recording from the June 2022 EMLT Intensive in Beyul, Colorado, John starts by guiding you into a deep, grounding breath into the pelvic floor. From there, you’ll begin to fill the ribs and then the heart and upper chest. This is one of the foundational breaths in sexual yoga: the 3-part breath. You’ll continue to circulate your breath and energy down the front of your body and up your spine. This is known as circular breathing. Finally, like elite athletes visualize themselves in practice, you will invite in an imagined partner as a way to build the muscle memory and energetic pathways to move breath, consciousness, and energy in figure-eights through your body and a partner’s. This is a beautiful way to build confidence and capacity on your own before offering this as a gift to your current or future partner.
Who this practice is for:
This practice includes many components of masculine practice layered on top of one another. If you are a beginner, follow along until you find your current edge and then consider pausing the recording and working on that particular skill until it becomes easier. Then come back to the recording and listen until you find your next edge. Practice that. And repeat. Like John mentions during the practice, some of the elements can take weeks or months to master.
Practice setup:
This practice is meant to be done in a comfortable seated position on a meditation cushion or chair, or in a kneeling position on a meditation cushion.
