You may find it difficult to allow yourself to truly connect with your heart because whenever you do, you often find pain or fear. This makes it difficult to open your heart to another’s—being with your own is challenging enough.
This is a meditation John led to root, ground and tune to the earth in order to create a bright, clear space in your heart, free of worry and fear. Before connecting with the heart of another human being, you can begin through this practice by inviting the earth’s energy to caress your heart.
If you want to create more space in your heart through a deep connection with the energy of the earth, this 7-minute practice will open the path.
Sit with your eyes closed, your navel pulled in, your feet planted, and your sacrum dropped down until you can find the hum of the earth through your feet and sacrum. It might be very subtle. Try to find a rooted triangle through your sacrum and the soles of your feet so that you can tune your nervous system to the magnetic field of the earth. Once you find that alignment, allow a natural flow of earth's energy to run up into your body.
Start breathing the energy up, drawing the earth's nourishing energy throughout your entire body with every inhale through your nose. Draw the energy up through the spine, and allow it to caress the back of the heart. Pay special attention to the texture of energy the earth is willing to give you. Feel the minerals and how they spark a natural state of well-being.
Lifting your hands up, palms facing forward, and without losing that grounded connection to the earth, become aware of the air. Begin to breathe in the fresh, clean air to create space at the top of your heart, and clear away anything that may be worrying you. Let your heart become bright and clean.
Lower your arms to your thighs and bow to the fullness of life.
