Wim Hof Breath & Breath of Fire with Plank Push-ups in Connection with the Earth
11m
Many men find it challenging when the energy amps up in their intimate relationship. You may find yourself becoming overwhelmed, burnt out, frustrated, or drained. You want to be able to hold much more without becoming ungrounded, but you don’t know how to get there.
In this variation on the Wim Hof Breath Practice and Breath of Fire that John led for masculine participants of the June 2020 Art of Spiritual Intimacy Online Weekend Immersion, you will complete exercises that encourage physical exertion and strong breath engagement to practice feeling the part of you that is still and unchanging while also feeling a lot of sensation. This is a good practice for expanding your nervous system capacity to hold a large amount of energy in an intimate moment. Between each exercise, you will rest onto the earth and allow her energy to nourish you, as if she were a lover.
If you want to expand your capacity to hold massive amounts of energy in your intimate relationship, take on this 11-minute practice.
Begin by landing. "Landing" might mean becoming aware of the earth, your surroundings, your breath, or all three.
Then, once you feel that sense of "landing," take an inhale, an exhale, and begin one full round of 30 seated Wim Hof breaths (inhaling 100% of air through your mouth, engaging the entire torso enough that your ribs expand, and then exhaling 80% of air through the mouth).
Then, after completing the full round, move into a plank position (or a modified plank with knees lowered to the ground) and do 30 seconds of push-ups with your breath held out. Then inhale fully and do 30 more seconds of pushups. Be as conscious and meticulous as you can with them.
After your final round of push-ups, lower yourself slowly to the ground and rest your head on the ground, turning it to one side. Then take one minute to let your body dissolve into the earth. Allow the entire front of your body to soften, and merge your pulse with the pulse of the earth. One body. Connect all the way down into the earth's core. Let the energy of the earth flow into the front of your body and nourish you.
Then slowly, gently, and tenderly disconnect, as if you are drawing your body from a lover, and return to the top of a plank with your navel pulled in, glutes slightly activated, and heels pushing back as the crown of your head pushes forward.
Then begin Breath of Fire for 1 minute, strongly exhaling through the nose with the navel pulling toward the spine, and allowing the inhale to flow in naturally through the nose.
After 1 minute, again, let yourself dissolve into the earth and let everything relax, especially the center column from the throat down to the genitals. Feel everything happening in the earth's body as you would a lover. Let her nourish you effortlessly. Allow your heart to open with gratitude for the earth. Honor her with a full frontal body, "Thank you. I love you."
Then, once again, disconnect with consciousness and reverence before closing the practice.
